"Be angry, and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your wrath nor give place to the
devil"
Ephesians 4:26-27 [New King James Version]
Old Iron Death™ is a third-person linear action-adventure game. The gameplay is divided into two alternating parts: the first occurs during combat moments where the perspective will be more tactical, while during exploration sessions and motorcycle journeys along the map, you'll notice the other part of the "cinematic" gameplay, featuring a narrating voice that gives it a more "Cult" feel.
The game difficulty in Old Iron Death™ is unique and realistic, varying based on the context. There's a high probability of success with a weak arsenal if there's ample space for movement and distance from enemies; otherwise, you'll need the right and powerful arsenal. The weather system in Old Iron Death™ is one of the elements that contributes to easing the gameplay (thanks to heavy rain, avalanches, fog, hurricanes, tornadoes, cyclones, geysers, sandstorms, and earthquakes).
Old Iron Death™ features two separate paths that attempt to intersect: the roads of Mitchell and Harper, a father and daughter searching for each other in a journey through the rubble of a post-apocalyptic scenario. The antagonist, Mitchell Westfield, is a man who is half human and half cyborg, a former Delta Force soldier remembered as "The Legend," now wanted worldwide. Nicole Harper Westfield is Legend's daughter, who, in her quest to find her father, faces all risks and fears: the RAW, military armies, cyborgs, and inner demons like loneliness, depression, and her lack of experience, which expose her to danger, all while dreaming every night of holding her parents' hands again.
Mitchell Jack Westfield, better known as "Legend," is a man who lost everything due to the Third World War. Helped by an armor housing an unknown person, he escapes from TDM's torture chambers and sets out to find his parents, children, and wife. With limbs replaced by cybernetic implants and in a lawless, devastated place, his only task to seek revenge and reclaim everything is to find his old war comrades and the deadliest weapons that Gadaara can offer.
"Iron Death" is the term used to refer to all cybernetic implants and exoskeletons present in the game. Unlike other games, the functionality of these implants goes beyond aesthetics and their role in the scenario. Iron Deaths are "living" machines that connect to the wearer, merging spirit and body, making the "pilot" as physically strong as their spirituality. The drawback is that if the pilot has a downtrodden or weak spirit, it will affect their body. Too much "sin" and pain in the pilot can lead to crying, seizures, weakness, ulcers, auditory and visual hallucinations, and even death.
In this case, the Iron Death continues to move and be controlled by the spirit of the pilot, now turned into a demon that possesses the Iron Death and remains trapped in a limbo called the "furrow": a spiritual place accessible at any time by the pilots, where they can see the most sensitive and good part of themselves fighting against their evil side. The "moving corpses" controlled by the Iron Death and the pilots nearing death are called R.A.W. (Resurrected Abyssal Wanderer).
What was once called Hong Kong is now a place of destruction, depicted in the game as a metaphor for the human heart. You'll find yourself fleeing from the TDM as you walk through the ruins of your heart, encountering enemies that represent your fears and inner demons. In Old Iron Death™, Legend begins his journey in the desolate lands of Gadaara to find his family, only to realize that even in the greatest problem, there will always be those few friends who believe in you they just need to be found. All this is portrayed with cinematic quality in lighting, visual post-processing, screenplay, and narration. The explosion of an unknown device has brought the constant presence of a gigantic atomic fungus at ground zero, within which lies "the abyss": a place where no one has ever been able to reach due to atmospheric pressure and heavy radiation presence.
The entire game is being developed by Luca Ryan Austro, born in 1997 and raised in Naples. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples in 2020 and began working as a graphic designer in various places. After developing video games for two Japanese companies in 2023, he decided to leave his job to fully dedicate himself to creating the masterpiece of his life: OLD IRON DEATH.
Old Iron Death™ is inspired by a wide range of cultural and cinematic influences. The narrative draws from the dystopian themes of Cyberpunk, the intensity and dark atmosphere of Berserk, the emotional tone and survival setting of The Last of Us, and the fast-paced gameplay style of Call of Duty. Elements reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid V serve as creative inspiration, reimagined through an original and independent vision.
Old Iron Death™ is currently in development by the startup AMOS SHADE S.r.l. The gameplay has reached the vertical slice phase, with the plot, UI, and gameplay finalized. All characters, names, institutions, and visuals shown are original creations or used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
